Biography

In 2004, Angela Soto screened her first short film, The 2004 All Souls Day Procession, in the All Souls Day Film Festival. It was a 10-minute photographic show of the All Souls Day Procession, in Tucson, AZ that celebrates death. The procession is a big event for the Tucson community. She has since produced four films influenced by the All Souls Theme: El Dia de Un Muerto (2005), Perro Muerto (2006), Good Grief (2007), and Two Endings (2008). Angela currently has 17 films to her credit. All have screened in film festivals around the country including Mia’s Journal, her first narrative film that screened at the 2006 Wingspan Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender Film Festival, drawing the largest festival audience. Vicenta, a short film about her mother screened at the Women’s Film Festival in Albuquerque in March 2008. La Virgen de Guadalupe was awarded Best Film in the 2008 Nuestras Raices Film Festival and her film; Linda & Angela came in 3rd in the 2013 Out In The Desert Film Festival. She’s currently collaborating with Enius, Miranda Aviles, and Charlie Parra Padilla making music videos. She has also collaborated with Cabaret Boheme, ZUZI, and New ARTiculations videotaping their live performances. Her work and collaboration with Pan Left Productions has also gotten her foot in the door with many other organizations like, Le Petit Carnival, Academia de Baile Tradicion y Cultura, Inc., David Tineo, a local muralist and artist, and local musicians, Pablo Perigrina, Joleen Dedmen, Intertwine, Enius, Ted Ramirez and Tish Hinojosa. Her script “Green Corn Tamales,” was submitted to the Sundance Institute. She is currently in postproduction of a Web series called, “Four boys and a GIRL.”
